Terms and Conditions Summary
We offer free downloadable resources: royalty-free characters and rigs (like our Bot Rig) and free tools like scripts, add-ons, and plugins (like our Cloth Simulation Scripts, Blender Widget Tool, and TOAnimate Picker). We'll call the characters/rigs "Rig" and the tools/scripts/add-ons "Tool," and together they're "Downloadables."
If you follow the rules below, you can use our Downloadables to create your own animation ("Your Work"). This is a summary of the full license agreement, which you can read in full here. The rules below are grouped by download type, since a Rig and a Tool aren't used the same way. If anything here conflicts with the full license, the full license wins.

Who can download
You must be at least 13 years old to download any Rig or Tool from us. If you're under 13, please don't use this site to download anything. If you're 13-17, you can download with a parent or guardian's permission and supervision.

Rigs & Characters
Applies to: Bot Rig, and any other royalty-free character we release.

You may:

• Download, display, and animate the Rig for your own noncommercial, personal use.

• Create derivative works, meaning you can modify the Rig to help create Your Work.

• Share Your Work (as long as anyone who wants the Rig itself gets it from us, not from you).

Under the following conditions:
Rig used with permission (TOAnimate Inc.). No endorsement or sponsorship by TOAnimate. Downloaded at toanimate.ca.

With the understanding that:

• You must include the attribution notice above every time you share the Rig, Material, or Your Work, either on-screen or in the credits. Burying it in small print doesn't count.

• You may not use any TOAnimate trademarks or logos.

• These rules only cover the specific Rig you downloaded. They don't cover any other rig, character, or material owned by TOAnimate or a third party.

• The Rig is provided "as is." We don't offer technical or customer support for it.

• You may use the Rig in your demo reel.

• You may not use the Rig, or any modification of it, for assignments at another animation school, online or in-person, other than TOAnimate.

• You may not use the Rig to promote a commercial venture.

• You may not give, sell, or distribute the Rig or any modification of it to others.

• You may not reverse engineer the Rig.

• You may post Your Work on your own site or social pages, or link to a third-party site hosting it, as long as that third party also follows these rules.

• Once you've shared or used the Rig, anyone else using it has to follow these rules too. Make it clear to them that permission comes from us, not you.

• TOAnimate owns all intellectual property in the Rig and related materials. Please respect that.

• Your Work can't infringe anyone else's IP, even if it has nothing to do with TOAnimate.

• You may not use the Rig to create anything pornographic, sexually explicit, obscene, or excessively violent, anything that promotes illegal activity, or anything that incites hate or violence against a protected group. Whether something counts is up to us.

• You need our written permission for any use not covered here, like entering Your Work in a contest or a commercial production.

• You may not suggest that TOAnimate endorses or sponsors you or Your Work.

• You may not use the Rig, or portray TOAnimate, in a negative light.
   

Tools & Add-ons
Applies to: Cloth Simulation Scripts, Blender Widget Tool, TOAnimate Picker, and any other free tool we release.

You may:

• Download and use the Tool in your own animation work, personal or professional, including client and commercial projects.

• No attribution is required to use a Tool.
   

Under the following conditions:

• The Tool is provided "as is," with no warranty and no technical or customer support.

• You may not sell, distribute, or otherwise share the Tool file itself with others. Send them to us instead.

• You may not reverse engineer, decompile, or modify the Tool.

• You may not use the Tool as part of any online animation school, class, or workshop other than TOAnimate's own. Using it as a student or instructor at a traditional, in-person school is fine.

• You may not use the Tool to create anything pornographic, sexually explicit, obscene, or excessively violent, anything that promotes illegal activity, or anything that incites hate or violence against a protected group. Whether something counts is up to us.

• TOAnimate owns all intellectual property in the Tool. Please respect that.

• You need our written permission for any use not covered here.

• You may not suggest that TOAnimate endorses or sponsors you or your work.

• You may not use the Tool, or portray TOAnimate, in a negative light.
   

Schools and studios
If a teacher, administrator, or studio representative wants to let multiple students or employees use a TOAnimate Rig or Tool in a classroom, lab, or studio setting, they need to agree to the license on behalf of the school or company and make sure everyone follows it. Students or employees can't take the Rig or Tool outside the school or studio without getting their own license first.
